The Cascade mountain wolf (''Canis lupus fuscus'') was a subspecies of the gray wolf, ''Canis lupus'', and was normally found in British Columbia, Oregon, and Washington. It was originally identified as a separate species from other wolves in the area by Edward Goldman in 1945, though the authority for the species was made much earlier by Richardson in 1839. The species itself became extinct in 1940.〔 ==Appearance==
